Providence Park
A model affordable housing community, Providence Park was developed by Nashville Area Habitat for Humanity and completed in 2007 – one year ahead of schedule with the help of more than 35,000 volunteers and donors. This 138-home subdivision is located in southeastern Nashville and showcases the positive impact homeownership and the establishment of a community can have on individuals, families, neighborhoods and cities.
The 43-acre site, located between Harding Place and Interstate 24, was made possible through a generous land donation from Centex Corporation. It represents the largest land donation ever given to Nashville Area Habitat during its history and one of the largest to Habitat for Humanity International.
Nashville Area Habitat raised and invested more than $4.5 million for land development in Providence Park and built Providence Park with 95 percent private sector funding. The neighborhood’s taxable value has grown from a non-developed value of $533,000 to more than $15 million in less than four years. Households in Providence Park are contributing more than $230,000 in property taxes per year to Metro Nashville and property values increased more than 45 percent in less than seven years. A public park, funded by HCA and located in Providence Park – was donated by Nashville Area Habitat to the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation.
