Timberwood

Timberwood is Nashville Area Habitat for Humanity’s third affordable housing community, located in northwest Davidson County.
Timberwood’s homes are ENERGY STAR certified, single family, three- to five-bedroom frame houses with approximately 1,100-1,500 square feet and 1.5 to 2.5 baths. Homes built in 2010 were built to LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) for Homes standards.
Residents enjoy a park and playground with more than 3.5 acres of handicap accessible recreational space, walking trails, benches and two covered pavilions.
A homeowners’ association oversees and controls lot maintenance and the exterior appearance of the homes and ensures the growing value of the neighborhood through protective covenants.
The community is diverse; residents come from around the globe, including the United States, Turkey, Guatemala, Haiti and several African countries.
In March 2010, an anonymous donor made a $780,000 challenge grant to build the last 26 homes in Timberwood. Grants, corporate sponsorships and private contributions from more than 300 donors provided the funds needed to match the donation. The 112-home Timberwood community was completed in September 2010, one year ahead of schedule, and the build was the largest in agency history.
Timberwood showcases the positive impact that homeownership and the establishment of a community has on individuals, families, neighborhoods and cities.
