Nashville Area Habitat for Humanity welcomes Martha Jane Shepard to the agency's board of directors.
She has been a pharmacist for 35 years and is currently co-owner and pharmacist at Dickson Apothecary, Dickson Apothecary-East, Goodlark Pharmacy, and Kingston Springs Pharmacy. Shepard is also a pharmacist volunteer with Dickson Community Clinic and a volunteer for 4-H Club activities. Her volunteerism extends overseas, as she has been the pharmacist with a medical mission trip to Belize, Central America with Temple Baptist Church.
Additionally, Shepard is a member of the Tennessee Pharmacist Association and Chairman of TPA Independent Society. She is a preceptor for retail externship rotation for University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy and Mercer University College of Pharmacy. Shepard is also a Health Occupations Students of America preceptor for Dickson County High School and Creekwood High School. She leads an Explorer Scout Unit that meets at Dickson Apothecary.
Shepard graduated from Clarksville High School, attended Austin Peay State University and earned a bachelor's degree in pharmacy from the University of Tennessee.
Bridgestone Americas dedicated a home sponsored and built by the company for one of their own—Latrice Steel, a customer service representative at Bridgestone/Firestone since 2006.
The Ensworth School dedicated four homes, sponsored and built simultaneously by school trustees, staff, faculty and students in celebration of the schools 50th birthday.
LP Corporation built their fourth Nashville Area Habitat home for Richard Boyd. Next door, LP Corporation and the Tennessee Titans teamed up to build the fifth Tennessee Titans home for Sarieda Evans.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) have awarded Nashville Area Habitat for Humanity the 2008 ENERGY STAR Award for Excellence in Energy-Efficient Affordable Housing.
