Dickson Division builds 16th house in Dickson County for Amy Blaylock and son Jacob

May 18, 2009

After a very rainy 6-day build, the Dickson Division of the Nashville Area Habitat for Humanity completed its’ 16th house in Dickson County since 1994. This is the fourth home build since Dickson County Habitat merged with the Nashville Area Habitat for Humanity in June of 2007.

Dedicated on Sunday, May 17th with a crowd of 85 people in attendance, this home was built for Amy Blaylock and her 10-year-old son Jacob. Amy has never owned a home of her own and she wondered if she would ever be able to. But with the help of Habitat for Humanity and her sponsors in Dickson County, she and Jacob now have a safe, comfortable home in which to live and play. In former rental houses, she and Jacob had experienced leaks in the roof and cold and drafty living areas. Today, those problems are a thing of the past.

Amy wants to thank all the sponsors and volunteers who helped build her home. Amy has always dreamed of a house with a “white picket fence.” Now she can’t wait to put one up. Habitat for Humanity – with the support of the community and God’s blessing – truly helps make the American dream of homeownership come true for deserving and hardworking families.
