Volunteer Opportunities with Habitat

Thank you for considering volunteer opportunities with Nashville Area Habitat for Humanity and our partner families.

Step 1: Review the volunteer opportunities listed below to identify those that interest you. Click on each volunteer opportunity for general information.

Step 2: Fill out a volunteer registration form and one of our volunteer personnel will be in touch with you shortly.

Home Construction

You can help build a home for a deserving family. You do not need to be an experienced builder, our Supervisors on Site will teach you all you need to know. See what can be accomplished in one day by a group of dedicated volunteers.

  • Construction Volunteers work on the construction site to build homes.
  • Supervisor on Site Volunteers direct the activities of construction volunteers in building a home.

Habitat HomeStores

Great bargains for shoppers, recycling of gently used furniture and building materials, and new homes for hardworking, deserving families are a great combination. Proceeds from NAHFH HomesStore sales fund new homes.

  • HomeStore Casual Volunteers volunteer for 4 hours or more assisting with various projects on a one time basis, returning at future dates as their schedules allow.
  • HomeStore Recurring Volunteers work for 4 hours or more on a schedule they select, helping to complete retail and administrative tasks.

Family Services

Family partners, future Habitat home buyers, take classes in homeownership, community involvement, financial management and personal enrichment to maximize their success as homeowners.

  • Budget Coach Volunteers explain and review money management concepts and techniques, one-on-one, with a Habitat partner family and encourage them in the budgeting process so they may become successful homeowners.
  • HomeWORKS Instructor Volunteers facilitate classes for Habitat families, who will be homeowners, that will prepare them for successful homeownership.
  • HomeWORKS for Kids Volunteers assist in teaching partner family children classes in core concepts of math, science, reading and social studies.

Office Administration

Help Nashville Area Habitat manage the mission of providing the opportunity for working families to purchase decent, affordable homes.

  • Office Administration Volunteers assist with data entry, filing, mailings, assembling information and promotional events.

Youth United

Youth United is a program in which community youth come together to fund and build a Habitat home. Young people including individuals, youth groups, clubs, schools and college students can participate.

  • Youth Leaders, Sponsors, Advocates and Builders are all needed to conduct a successful Youth United program.

Large Group Opportunities

Volunteer projects for groups of 50 volunteers or more are available. Participate in a community service/team building project and experience the benefits to the partner families and to the volunteer group.

  • Wall Panel Build Volunteers build wall panels used in the construction of a Nashville Area Habitat for Humanity home.
  • Landscaping and Tree Planting Volunteers participate in projects that add to the beauty of a Habitat neighborhood.
