“…Helping families help themselves purchase a home, I think that’s a wonderful concept.”

Age Guidelines

Build Site & Construction Projects:

All persons must generally be 18 years of age or older to volunteer at a NAHFH build site to build homes. Youth 16 and 17 years old may volunteer at the build site ONLY if they are supervised by an adult, 21 years of age or older, with a ratio of no less than one adult for every five youth. Youth 16 and 17 are restricted from the use of ladders, power tools and roof work. Youth 16 or 17 must have their parent or legal guardian sign a release form prior to volunteering. These age guidelines apply to any person at the build site including those serving food and doing site clean-up. For insurance reasons, no one under the age of 16 will be allowed on the build site during house builds. Dedication Ceremonies are the only exception as construction is completed by that time.

HomeStores, HomeWORKS, and NAHFH Offices:

All persons must generally be 16 years of age or older to volunteer at the HomeStores, HomeWORKs or NAHFH Offices. Age restriction exceptions for special volunteer projects may be made on a case by case basis.
