Do you enjoy interacting with others, staying busy and getting first dibs on great sale items? Then the Habitat HomeStore is the place for you. The Habitat HomeStores are retail stores operated by Nashville Area Habitat to provide a new source of funding to build Habitat homes. FAQ for HomeStore Volunteers

Who shops at the HomeStores?
The general public! The Habitat HomeStores are open to everyone and are frequented by decorators, builders, and home improvement enthusiasts! Our HomeStores offer quality merchandise at great prices including furniture, cabinets, housewares, hardware, doors, windows, appliances and architectural antiques.
What will I do as a HomeStore volunteer?
Have fun and learn about the retail business! You'll work alongside our full-time staff and a variety of volunteers from the community. Tasks include: assisting customers, merchandising, helping load/unload vehicles, answering phones/returning calls, sorting/organizing/pricing donated items, and unloading donation trucks. We are always looking for people with appliance and furniture repair experience! The diversity in our volunteers and staff gives the HomeStores an atmosphere that is both laid-back and fun!
Are there any special requirements to be a HomeStore volunteer?
Friendly and hardworking volunteers are simply the best! It is extremely helpful if you can lift 50 pounds or more and/or are comfortable standing, stooping, kneeling and walking a lot.
Can groups volunteer?
YES! Groups up to 10 people can volunteer at our HomeStores and must be scheduled in advance. Groups are asked to volunteer between 3 to 5 hours. Sometimes we may need to split up your group between the two stores.
Do I need to sign up ahead of time?
YES! You'll go through a short orientation on your first day. After you've come a few times, we can set a schedule together and you can start coming on your own. Be sure to always sign in and out each time you volunteer.
Is there a minimum age to be a HomeStore volunteer?
YES! A person must generally be 18 years of age or older to volunteer at the Habitat HomeStores. In some cases, exceptions may be made ahead of time for 16 and 17 year olds.
