Homeowner Academy Volunteer Opportunities
You can make a positive impact in the life of a child and support affordable homeownership in one place. Through Habitat’s Homeroom program, volunteers spend quality time with the children of future Habitat homeowners helping with homework, participating in arts and crafts projects, and playing games and activities while parents attend homeownership education classes. A Habitat staff member will lead the main activities but volunteers are desired to pay personalized attention to each child.
Homeroom classes are on Tuesday and Thursday nights, from 6 – 8 p.m. Volunteers need to arrive at 5:30 p.m. and stay until 8 p.m. Classes are held at the Homeowner Academy, 414 Harding Place, Nashville, TN 37211.
Budget Coaches partner with future Habitat homeowners for (10) one-on-one coaching sessions over 12 weeks as part of the Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University coursework. Budget Coaches assist their partner family in creating a household budget, along with supporting the Financial Peace University curriculum.
Morning sessions (11 a.m. to 12 p.m.) and evening sessions (7 to 8 p.m.) are held on either Tuesdays or Thursdays at 414 Harding Place, Nashville, TN 37211 to accommodate different schedules. All classes will be held at the Habitat offices. For a sample schedule click here and contact Amaad Dowdell (firstname.lastname@example.org) to get started!
